I am Hannah, a Depressive.

I write about my experiences to advocate for mental health and share what it’s like for a person living with depression. One of my goals is to normalize talking about mental health, by giving a face to the day-to-day struggle. The other is to help people find what works for them based on my experience. This site is a collection of my thoughts on a variety of mental health topics.

I’ve struggled with depression since I was a child. While the world around me taught me to carry this with shame and isolation, I found the more I share my experiences, the more I connect with people.

I became an accidental advocate. I shared my story to a room of quiet faces and awkward whispers because of the one person who would reach out to me afterwards and express solidarity. They, too, were just waiting to meet someone who was no stranger to the darkness.

Over the years, I’ve spoken at conferences and written articles to intentionally advocate for myself and people like me. It is my hope that this can be a space to reflect and expand understanding, find solidarity, and connect.

Welcome to my Diary.
